In a late-breaking news article from the New York Times:
David A. Patterson, the governor of the State of New York, has ordered all New York State agencies to recognize Gay marriages performed in other jurisdictions. While this doesn't officially legalize Gay marriage in New York State (only the Sate legislature can pass that law), it sets the stage for an eventual showdown and legalization of Gay marriages in the Empire State.
As native New Yorkers, exModians are proud of our new governor's initiative and thrilled with this bold move. However it is not enough. What part of EQUAL don't you understand? We should have had Gay marriage 3 generations ago when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. championed the equal rights of all people, including the LGBT community.
What the hell is taking so long?
