We get a lot of tracks of unknown or relatively unkown types who routinely broadcast online. This one was sent to us recently and when we first heard it, we just stopped everything we were doing. It's a remix/mashup of Human League's "Don't You Want Me" with The Supremes "Stop In the Name of Love". WE stopped cold because we didn't really think it would work or that we'd like it at all. But it does work. And we sorta, kinda, maybe like it.
As you can imagine, we had to analyze the reasons why it works and why we sorta, kinda, maybe like it. We gathered around in a circle and held hands and tried to channel the ghost of Florence Henderson, er...Ballard, to guide us to the truth.
The truth is that it does work and here's why:
There's a logical musical progression from "Stop In the Name of Love" to "Don't You Want Me" because there's a logical musical progression from 1960s Motown to 1970s disco, to 1980s house/Garage house, to 1980s British synth-pop.
As to why we like it?
We're still channelling.
Enjoy!
