Those of you who managed to log on to exModia early yesterday morning got a chance to witness a historic event. Well, actually, two historic events. The City of San Francisco decided to webcast the entire San Francisco Pride Parade live online. It just so happened that we left Cyberbimbo in charge of the site whilst the rest of us headed down to our Pride Parade here in New York (because she's single and grumpy!).
Cyberbimbo was alerted to the live feed by our angels in San Francisco (our dear friends, Matt and Jody). Those who were on exModia got to watch the parade live on exModia. Meanwhile we were "gagging" downtown because we also were watching on our laptop while watching the NYC Pride Parade. We apologise for not alerting all of you about this but no one knew this would take place until Matt contacted Cyberbimbo with the details.
To our knowledge, exModia was the only blog to actually stream the parade and several exModians from various countries participated in a live chat with people from San Francisco and across the U.S. while watching the live event.
It was a touching moment as each new exModian logged in and typed in their best wishes from whatever location in the world they were watching. There really was a lot of love in the air, despite the fact that here in NYC the skies opened up and let loose with a deluge of rain. The rain wiped out our pictures of the event, but we have a source who managed to snap away while the sun was still shining. So don't despair.
We don't really know why more cities don't bother to webcast their Pride parades. Certainly New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Sydney should take the lead in this sort of thing. But it is up to us, the online, blogging, LGBT community to demand it.
But, there will be other Pride parades and next year's 40th anniversary of Stonewall promises to be historic. You are all invited to come back home to Christopher Street to celebrate in the streets that gave birth to our liberation. And if you do feel that Stonewall 40 should be a gathering of all LGBT people from all over the planet here in New York, let us know by emailing us (click this link or see our side bar where it says "contact us"). We will make it a point to forward those emails to Heritage of Pride, the organisers of NYC's Pride Parade, and the appropriate officials in city government.
We're serious, we'd like you to come home to the birthplace of your Gay freedom. Now email us and let us know your sentiments.
Oh, and if you'd like to see a repeat of San Francisco's Pride Parade, or if you missed it the first time around, you can go to their webpage (or by clicking on the title of this post, as always).

New York for Stonewall 40? YES!!! Brilliant!
I think this is a good idea. We all need to unite for next Stonewall celebration.
