Solar Sun ft. Denise Gurney - Tel Aviv Underground (The Southern Brothers Remix)

Gustavo Zapata is the sole member of The Southern Brothers, so the plural is deceptive.

This guy hails from Medellín, Colombia, a city wrapped up in salsa and reggaetón. That is why brilliant remixing and dj'ing like his attest to the reach, power, and influence of house music.

Just look at what he did with Israeli Solar Sun's Tel Aviv Underground.

Enjoy!

Sounds of Blackness - The Pressure (Jazz-n-Groove Club Mix)

This is a very special request since this is a very special song.

Those of you that are old enough recall that the exquisite Barbara Tucker recorded the original house classic (mixed by the legend himself, Larry Levan, and later by the living legend, Frankie Knuckles). (OK, maybe it wasn't THE classic, but it was to us because we just lurve Barbara!).

This version, the Sounds of Blackness version, is remixed by the prolific team of Jazz-n-Groove.

If you want an education on Larry Levan, early house music and how it all came about, just click on the Frankie Knuckles link. He tells the story the only way it can be told – by one of the people who built the groove.

This goes out to my dear friend Koki in NYC. He had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Tucker at an affair we held when Willi Ninja surprised us by bringing her along. What a way to start September!

Enjoy!
